Before the books there was the chair. Over a decade in the high-fashion and celebrity styling world, from red carpets to editorial shoots to the morning of a wedding, built a reputation for artistry and precision, and put her within arm's reach of thousands of women's actual lives.

That is where the material comes from. Every look started with listening, and what women told her about their hair, their health, and what they had quietly settled for is what ended up on the page. It is also why one of her titles takes on the chemical relaxer industry directly. She has seen what it does, up close, for a very long time.
